IO Ready's mission

IO Ready was created because of a lack of transparency, information, and tools on how to start a career in international organisations.

I spent so many years trying to open certain doors with no results, wasting my time, money, and energy. When I finally got my first steps in, I received a lot of questions about HOW I did it, and I realised that the issue is much bigger than just me, my profile, and my personal ambitions - it’s a characteristic of the industry to be secretive, confusing, competitive to get in.

Many people reached out to me asking for advice, which I would always give generously. From the first conversation I had with other aspiring international civil servants, I shared EVERYTHING I knew about working in IOs - the unspoken, the internal, the not politically correct. Soon, I realised that I was running out of time to talk to everyone interested, and the knowledge, experience, and insights I had shared started, well, overflowing the time I was able to give to each conversation.

This is exactly when the idea of creating IO Ready came to me - what if there was a dedicated space, supporting community and organised, honest, transparent information for people wanting to make it in IOs? That’s exactly what I would have loved to be a part of a couple of years ago, and exactly what I wanted to create.

And that became the exact vision of the company - to inform, support, and empower others with the right tools to get their dream careers in IOs. Regardless of their background, education, (lack of) privilege, or professional interests.
